Wild tusker dies after an electric pole falls on it in Palamaner forests | Amaravati News – Times of India

TIRUPATI: A wild pachyderm died on the spot after an electric pole accidentally fell on it near the Koundinya wildlife sanctuary in Palamaner of Chittoor district on Friday.
According to divisional forest officer Chittoor west Mr S Ravi Shankar, a group of 16 wild tuskers which were camping around the Koundinya reserve forests and were damaging crops in a large extent of lands were being driven away by the locals with the help of forest department staffers over the last couple of days.
On Friday one wild tusker aged about six years was found dead after an uprooted electricity pole fell on it. As moving out the wild tusker to the nearby zoo for an autopsy was practically impossible, forest department staffers conducted the postmortem on the spot and buried the carcass of the wild pachyderm at the Koundinya wildlife sanctuary on Friday.
