Thane: Dopey, minor aide arrested for robbing Mumbai resident of phone and cash | Thane News – Times of India

THANE: A 20-year-old dopey and his minor aide were arrested within 24 hours for allegedly robbing a 23-year-old Mumbai resident of his phone and cash on the Kalyan skywalk, Sunday wee hours.
According to the railway police, around 11pm, the victim, a resident of Lower Parel was on his way home after meeting a friend in Kalyan when he was accosted near Kasara end of the skywalk connecting the railway station by the duo accused who were apparently under heavy influence of some narcotic substance.
“The men pointed a knife at the victim and frisked him and snatched his mobile phone and cash. Fearing for his life, the victim somehow managed to escape from their clutches and approached the police,” informed Shardul Valmik, senior inspector at the Kalyan railway police.
Following a complaint and based on the description given by the victim, the police formed teams and fanned out and rounded up few suspects of which the two accused were identified. Preliminary probe revealed the duo was frequently involved in similar criminal activities to fund their addiction.
While the main accused was remanded to police custody, the minor has been detained considering his frequent involvement in such criminal activities, informed constable MR Kute.
