Telangana reports 691 new Covid-19 cases, 5 deaths | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: Telangana recorded 691 new Covid-19 cases and 5 deaths on Wednesday even as the number of active cases in the state stood at 9,908.
The total count of cases since the beginning of the pandemic last year, stand at 6,38,721 and the death toll stands at 3,771. The number of active containment zones in the state stood at 40. Apart from two new containment zones in Hyderabad, Mahabubabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Bhadadri Kothagudem have majority of the active containment zones in the state.
A total of 565 patients were declared recovered on Wednesday, taking the total count of recovered patients to 6,25,041. The case fatality rate (CFR) stands at 0.59 percent while the recovery rate has improved to 97.85 percent now. So far 79.8 percent of overall cases in the state have been asymptomatic while 20.2 percent have been symptomatic.
On Wednesday, 1,14,260 samples were tested for the novel coronavirus. Telangana has now completed testing 2.08 crore samples and has reached 5.60 lakh sample testing per million population.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) recorded 85 new cases on Wednesday, while neighbouring Medchal Malkajgiri recorded 30 cases, Ranga Reddy recorded 19 and Sanga Reddy recorded 29 cases. Outside of Hyderabad city and its outskirts, Jagtiyal, Khamman, Mancheriyal and Nalgonda saw more cases.
