HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress vice-president Mallu Ravi has urged governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to direct the state government to take action against the forest officials who attacked the tribals recently.
While congratulating the governor for arranging to supply nutritious food to the tribals in the state, Ravi, in a letter, termed it as a timely action by Tamilisai Soundararajan.
In a discussion with the scientists of National Institute of Nutrition, the governor had stressed for a time-bound action plan to improve the nutritional status of people belonging to primitive tribal groups in the State.
Ravi said some of the forest department staffers beat up the tribals who had gone to collect Mahua flowers in the forest five days ago.
The injured Tribals were rushed to the hospital.
Despite repeated demands from various quarters, the state government is yet to take action against the forest officials, he stated.
The incident occurred in the forest area falling under Amrabad mandal of Atchampet in Nagarkurnool district.
“Please ask the District Collector to submit a report to you. The district collector is also from ST community. As the Governor, you have got Constitutional powers to take protective and developmental divisions regarding Tribals,” he said.
