Suspended cop arrested for smuggling banned tobacco products near Coimbatore | Coimbatore News – Times of India


COIMBATORE: The Sulur police in Coimbatore district on Thursday arrested a suspended police constable for carrying 10 kg of banned tobacco products.
The accused, R Perumal, 47, was on the way to a grocery store in Pappampatti on a two-wheeler to supply the contraband. A team led by sub-inspector Navaneethakrishnan arrested him.

The 1997-batch police constable was suspended in 2010 when he was caught playing cards in a club at Udumalpet in Tirupur district. He was attached to the Podanur police station.
