Puducherry’s Covid-19 recovery rate improves, inches closer to national average | Puducherry News – Times of India

PUDUCHERRY: The Covid-19 recovery rate in the Union territory of Puducherry has improved to 96% inching towards the national average of 96.6%. Of 1.15 lakh cases reported in the territory, 1.1 lakh patients recovered registering a recovery rate of 95.9%.
The territory reported 263 fresh Covid-19 cases even as 415 patients recovered in the last 24 hours ending at 10am on Wednesday bringing down the active cases to 3,058. Of them, 2,535 are under home isolation and treatment.
Puducherry headquarters reported the maximum fresh cases with 218 followed by Karaikal (37), Yanam (5) and Mahe (3). Puducherry headquarters has the maximum active cases with 2,477 followed by Karaikal (434), Mahe (76) and Yanam (71).
Four patients died of the infection taking the death toll to 1,731 on Wednesday. Puducherry headquarters reported three deaths and Karaikal one. Puducherry headquarters has the maximum fatalities with 1,384 followed by Karaikal (213), Yanam (102) and Mahe (32).
The infection’s fatality rate stood at 1.5%. The positivity rate of the samples (8,201) tested on Wednesday stood at 3.2%.
Healthcare authorities have so far tested 12.5 lakh swab samples of which 10.74 lakh samples returned negative. They have so far administered the vaccine to 4.39 lakh people including those who got the second dose.
