Mumbaikars will travel by trains from August 2: BJP | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Mumbaikars will defy prohibitory orders and begin travel by train from August 2, the Bharatiya Janata Party has warned. The party has pointed out that two weeks ago the Centre had said the suburban railway can be open for use of the general public with adequate precautions.
“The absence of a concrete alternate public transportation plan has put the common man to immense hardship to just reach her/his place of work assuming she/he still has a job. In the face of adversities the monthly spend on office commute has shot up many times which is neither manageable or affordable,” he said. The BJP had earlier demanded the government pay a monthly allowance of Rs 5000 if it does not wish to allow train travel.
BJP state president Chandrakant Patil said the government must allow those who have completed both doses of vaccination to continue normal activities with precautions. “Will the government bring society to a halt for fear of the Covid pandemic?” he asked.
