Money laundering case, chanda kochhar husband arrested, Ex-CEO of ICICI Bank arrested
The Directorate (ED) on Monday arrested Deepak Kochhar, the husband of former CEO of ICICI Bank Chanda Kochhar in connection with the money laundering case.
Kochhar was arrested by the agency in Mumbai under sections of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The Central Bureau of Investigation has questioned the couple over alleged irregularities and money laundering in bank lending to the videocon group.
Earlier in the day, ED had called Deepak Kochhar to question his Delhi office. In January 1919, the agency temporarily attached the movable and immovable assets of flat, land, confiscated cash, plant and machinery in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Also read this: RBI Booster For small Farmers.
Assets are attached under the Money Laundering Prevention Act (PMLA) in the ICICI Bank Loan case. The ED has launched an investigation after the FILA filed a case under the FIR for illegal sanctioning of Rs 1,875 crore for Videocon Group of Companies.
300 crore sanctioned by a committee headed by Chanda Kochhar to Videocon International Electronics Limited. The investigation revealed that Rs 64 crore has been transferred to Nupower Renewables Pvt Ltd.
