MADURAI: A gang murdered a 26-year-old man in a village in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday night. The gang chopped off the man’s head and dropped it on a road.
The murdered man has been identified as R Deva of Kalkinatruvalasai village.
Police said Deva was walking near Nambayivalasai village on Tuesday night. A gang comprising R Ganesamurthi, Amu Karthi and K Dinesh intercepted him. On seeing the gang, Deva tried to run away. However, the gang chased him and murdered him with sickles.
They chopped off his head and threw it on the Thamaraikulam Road near Pudhumadam village.
The Uchipuli police registered a case and launched a hunt for the gang.
Police said Deva had a previous enmity with Ganesamurthi. Deva and his friends teased Ganesamurthi’s cousin Prasad on January 2. Ganesamurthi questioned them. Five days later, Deva and his friends attacked Ganesamurthi with a sharp weapon.
