Man accused in suicide abetment of Pune art director now held for extortion in Mumbai | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: The office-bearer of a labour union, who has been accused in the suicide abetment case of Marathi art director Raju Sapte in Pune, was arrested by the Mumbai Police on Sunday in connection with an extortion case in Mumbai.
Gangeshwar Shrivastava was nabbed from Pune by the Dindoshi police and brought to Mumbai. He was produced before a local court and is in police custody at present.
Last month, a labourer had lodged a complaint against Shrivastava and a few others.
The labourer complained that Shrivastava and the others were not paying him his dues up to Rs 2.5 lakh and were instead intimidating him. He also complained that the accused were demanding a percentage of the dues from him. Shrivastava is on anticipatory bail in the Sapte case. When he turned up at a police station in Pune to mark his attendance, a waiting team of Dindoshi police picked him up.
The extortion case in Mumbai is not linked to Sapte’s suicide abetment.
Sapte had ended his life on July 3 after shooting a video in which he accused some individuals of harassing him professionally, including spreading rumours of payment defaults on his part. Sapte had worked as an art director for movies like ‘Ambat Goad’, ‘Manyaa the wonder boy’.
