Madurai police constable dies of snakebite | Madurai News – Times of India

MADURAI: A police constable working in Madurai died of a snakebite he suffered in his native village on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as R Karuppasamy, 35, of Anaikaraipatti village near Saptur. The 2011 batch constable, who was attached to the city’s armed reserve police unit, was working as a driver with Subramaniyapuram station.
Karuppasamy was bitten by a snake when he went to his garden located next to his house on Monday morning. He was taken to Periyar Government Hospital, where first aid was given. He was referred to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai, where he died late in the night.
Based on a complaint from his wife K Sheela, the Saptur police registered a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the CrPC.
