KCR should stop selling government lands to realtors: M Kodandaram | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: Telangana Jana Samithi has found fault with chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for taking the excuse that the government is not able to protect its valuable lands from encroachments as a result of which it was auctioning the land parcels.
“How can the chief Minister even talk like this. If the government can’t protect its own lands from land sharks, how will it protect the lives and properties of the people. It is unfortunate that the government which should utilize these land parcels for construction of two-BHK units, development of townships to reduce the load on core city and other public purposes is selling them to realtors,” said TJS founder-president M Kodandaram.
Citing the land auction conducted at Kokapet, Kodandaram said the maximum price bid was Rs 60 crore per acre. “The government has turned into a realtor. The government is taking housing away from the middle-class sections of the society. Citing the Rs 60 crore per acre price, realtors and developers will increase the prices of flats and independent houses. The dream of owning a small flat of middle-class sections will remain unfilled,” he said.
He demanded that the chief minister should immediately stop auction of its land and keep the land parcels for future public purposes. “The TRS government has raised Rs 2,000 crore by auction of 40macres of land. It has further set a target of raising Rs 50,000 crore through auction of its lands. This has to be stopped and TJS will consult all like-minded parties to launch a massive movement to stop the auction of precious government lands,” he said.
