Kalyan: KDMC seals six shops for flouting Covid-19 norms; levies Rs 5000 fine | Thane News – Times of India

THANE: In a bid to encourage Covid-19 appropriate behaviour in the twin cities, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) on Thursday sealed several shops in the region that were found violating the government’s orders.
As many as six shops on the Malanggad Road were sealed by Deepak Shinde, ward officer from I Ward of KDMC. Most of them were clothing stores, which were found not adhering to the civic body’s restrictions.
Shinde was accompanied by the civic body’s encroachment department staff as well as police personnel.
They recovered fines to the tune of Rs 5000 from the shopkeepers and warned them against repeating the same mistake.
The action was ordered by KDMC chief Vijay Suryawanshi.
Since the past few days, the KDMC has been coming down hard on those violating Covid-19 regulations in the twin cities. On Wednesday, more than 10 establishments were sealed by the officials in the civic body limits.
While non-essential shops will be imposed with a fine of Rs 5,000, the civic body has informed that hotels, restaurants and bars found flouting the rules will have to pay Rs 10,000 as fine.
