Ghaziabad: At wedding, youth slits friend’s throat after drunken brawl | Ghaziabad News – Times of India

GHAZIABAD: A 19-year-old man died after he was stabbed in the throat, allegedly by one of his friends, during a drunken brawl in Vijay Nagar.
The deceased, identified as Tinku Kumar, was a resident of Delhi’s Mandawali. He worked as a storekeeper for a private company.
Mahaveer Singh, SHO, Vijay Nagar police station, said on Monday night, Tinku and his childhood friend Deepak Pandit, who is the main accused, were in Ghaziabad to attend the wedding of another friend’s sister. Tinku and Deepak, along with others, went up to the terrace to drink alcohol, he added.
“A heated argument broke out between the two, followed by a fight. Deepak attacked Tinku with a piece of glass from a liquor bottle and cut his throat. He fled after that,” Singh said.
“At the time, Tinku and his other friends didn’t realise that the wound was serious. About 45 minutes after the incident, Tinku fell to the ground and blood started oozing out of his throat. His friends rushed him to MMG hospital but he died during treatment,” said the SHO.
Tinku’s elder brother Arvind Kumar said Tinku had told him he would be back by Tuesday morning. “One of his friends called me around 1am and informed that Tinku had fallen from the terrace and had been admitted to hospital. It was only when I reached there that I learnt that Deepak had slit my brother’s throat,” he added.
An FIR has been registered against Deepak under IPC Section 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder). “The accused is absconding at the moment,” SHO Singh said.
