The Central Government has amended the Motor Vehicle Act 1989. Vehicle records, including driving licenses and e-challans, will be maintained through an information technology portal from October 1, 2020, the government said on Saturday. At the time of inspection of vehicle records, physical records are not required to replace vehicle records that are valid through electronic means, the statement said.
Update your license information.
Experts say that all information about your driving license will be available to the traffic authorities. In addition, the government has said that the details of the driving license that have been disqualified or revoked by the licensing authority will be recorded on the portal and will be updated from time to time.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement that the Motor Vehicle Regulations have been notified of various amendments made in 1989, including vehicle-related documents, through the portal, effective October 1, 2020, for better monitoring and implementation of motor vehicle regulations. The government also said that e-challan will also be handled through it.
