Delhi assembly monsoon session: Ramvir Singh Bidhuri demands meeting to set agenda | Delhi News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: In a letter to Delhi assembly speaker Ram Niwas Goel, leader of opposition in the assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri on Wednesday urged him to convene a meeting of the business advisory committee on July 26 to set the agenda for the monsoon session of the assembly beginning from July 29.
“It is heartening to know that the assembly session has been convened after a long time, but the time given to the members for putting up questions or topics of discussion during the proposed question hour is very low. There is no agenda outlined by the government for the session which is being convened after a severe second wave that badly hit the capital,” Bidhuri said in a statement.
Bidhuri stated that it has been a tradition since the inception of Delhi Assembly that a meeting of the business advisory committee is held before any session to decide on the agenda of the session or the day.
“It is unfortunate that neither the meeting of BAC has been convened nor the members or leader of the opposition have been consulted before the session,” said Bidhuri.
The LoP also suggested that the duration of the assembly session should be increased by at least three more days to allow members to raise important issues pertaining to their constituencies.
The two-day session will begin from July 29. The opposition members are planning to raise issues related to the Covid-19 management, water crisis, water-logging among other issues pertaining to their assembly constituencies.
