Dalit Bandhu for government employees’ families too: Telangana CM | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that Dalit Bandhu (Dalit empowerment scheme) would be extended to even families belonging to government employees and retired employees, too, in the fourth phase of the scheme.
However, priority would be given to the families belonging to the poorest of the poor and downtrodden in the first phase, he said.
The CM said another Dalit movement that was starting from Huzurabad, would spread like wildfire to other states where people demand implementation of such scheme. Even the scheme would get the world’s attention.
The CM urged Dalits, especially students, to make the scheme a big success.
Chandrasekhar Rao launched the Dalit Bandhu scheme officially at Shalapally village in Huzurabad assembly constituency where Rythu Bandhu scheme was launched three years ago on Monday. Fifteen families were given cheques of Rs 10 lakh by the CM.
“The benefits under the Dalit Bandhu scheme would be provided to all the 17 lakh Dalit families in the state,” the CM declared allaying fears that it would be given to only selected families.
For the scheme, the CM said that Rs 1.70 lakh crore would be required for covering all the 17 lakh Dalit families.
“The scheme was supposed to be launched last year, but due to Covid 19 pandemic the scheme got delayed. Two thousand crores would be released for the scheme in the next 15 days. In Huzurabad constituency, there are 21,000 Dalit families and all would be given Rs 10 lakh each under the scheme,” he said.
