Covid-19: Tamil Nadu mulling to reduce syllabus for state board students | Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: In view of uncertainty over reopening of schools and continuing online learning, the Tamil Nadu school education department is mulling to reduce the syllabus for 2021-22 academic year as well.
“In the previous academic year, the school education department reduced up to 40% of the syllabus. We are discussing reducing the syllabus this year too. After the discussions, we will make an announcement,” school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi told reporters here.
“We cannot ask the students to prepare a full syllabus for the board exam in seven months. Students are learning online and the school reopening date is not known. The chief minister also asked us how the children will learn the full syllabus in a short time,” the minister said after inaugurating basic computer functional training to government school teachers.
The teachers will beprovided training to conduct online classes anduse hi-tech labs in government and government-aided schools. They will also be taught on entering data on the EMIS portal, conducting online assessment andusing hi-tech labs for taking online classes during the five-day training.
