Covid-19: Ban on weddings after April 15 lifted in Maharashtra’s Palghar district | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: The Palghar district collector on Wednesday withdrew the complete ban on weddings after April 15, even as total Covid-19 cases crossed the 50,000 mark.
Collector Dr. Manik Gursal in his order dated March 26 had imposed restrictions in the district from April 5 to contain the surge in Covid-19 cases. The order banned marriages after April 15 in the district. Till April 15, marriages were allowed with 50 guests after taking permission from the police.
The collector on Wednesday ordered that marriages can continue to take place on all days after April 15 with 50 guests and police permission.
In addition, all restrictions have been made applicable with immediate effect instead of April 5. Shops, establishments, hotels, restaurants, malls and places of worship will function from 7 am to 8 pm with immediate effect.
Public places including beaches, gardens and playgrounds will be shut from 8 pm to 7 am. Those found in public places during the ban period will be fined Rs 1,000 each.
Positive cases in the district on Wednesday touched 50,148, including 1,225 deaths. Active cases in the district on Wednesday was 2,701. Till March 28, a total of 91,561 persons had been vaccinated in the district.
