Covid-19 active cases drop to 0.8% in Puducherry | Puducherry News – Times of India


PUDUCHERRY: The number of active Covid-19 cases dropped to 0.8% in the Union territory of Puducherry on Wednesday, which is less than the national average of 1.3%.
The territory has so far reported 1.2 lakh cases of which 1.17 lakh patients recovered while 1,792 people died.
A 42-year-old woman without any comorbidities died of the infection in the last 24 hours ending at 10am on Wednesday. The fatality rate of the infection stood at 1.5%, which is higher than the national average (1.3%). The recovery rate of infection stood at 97.8%, which is better than the national average (97.4%).
Of 923 active cases, 734 are under home isolation and treatment while the rest are at various facilities in the territory. Puducherry headquarters has the maximum active cases with 693 followed by Karaikal (125), Mahe (74) and Yanam (31).
Healthcare authorities have so far tested 14.83 lakh swab samples of which 12.67 lakh samples returned negative. They have so far administered 6.86 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, including the second dose.
