Chennai: Traffic diversion trial at Kodambakkam for metro rail Phase-II | Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: With the Chennai Metro Rail Limited planning to commence phase-II works on the elevated corridor from Kodambakkam Power House to Porur junction, traffic was diverted on a portion of the Arcot Road on a trial basis from 8am to 11am on Sunday. It will be done on Monday too.
The Kodambakkam Power House to Porur junction stretch is part of Corridor 4 connecting Light House with Poonamallee.
Power House to Poonamallee will be an elevated line while the rest of the metro stretch would be underground.
On Sunday, vehicle movement on Arcot Road from the 80-feet road junction to Power House was made one way.
Vehicles proceeding from Kodambakkam bridge towards Vadapalani, Saligramam and Porur were asked to take a compulsory left at the Power House junction and routed via Ambedkar Salai – Ashok Nagar Police Station junction right – Lakshman Sruthi signal/ Jawaharlal Nehru Road – PT Rajan Salai – 80 feet road and on to Arcot Road.
There were no diversions for vehicles heading from Porur to Kodambakkam.
Motorists from Porur heading to KK Nagar were not allowed to make a right turn at 80 Feet Road.
They had to reach Vadapalani signal and make a right to reach their destination through PT Rajan Salai.
