Central Railway vigilance team catches passengers travelling illegally on trains | Pune News – Times of India

PUNE: The vigilance team of Central Railway (CR) along with ticket checking staff of Solapur division conducted a joint train check to curb unauthorised travel, which causes inconvenience to passengers.
According to the rail officials, these checks were conducted in train number-05030 and train number-06528 on August 14 between Ahmednagar to Kopargaon section and Kopargaon to Ahmednagar section of Solapur division.
“All general and sleeper coach passengers were thoroughly checked for valid travelling authority. 323 passengers were found travelling without a ticket and one passenger was found with unbooked luggage. Overall, a total of 324 cases were detected and Rs 1,71,060 recovered as fine from the irregular passengers,” a rail official said.
In this year from January to till date, a total of 12 such checks have been conducted and Rs 6,44,790 recovered as fine from the irregular passengers.
“More such joint checks shall be conducted to curb irregular travel and will also ensure comfortable travel for the passengers. It is important for passengers to note that they should follow the regulations while travelling. Earlier too, the different rail divisions under the Central Railway have been holding such drives in trains and stations and many people have got caught travelling illegally or not wearing masks which is unacceptable,” the official pointed out.
