bjp: Temple closure issue: State BJP leaders should protest against Centre and not against Tamil Nadu govt, minister says | Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: Even if 100 BJPs come, they cannot stall the DMK government from functioning as it is headed by a leader (chief minister M K Stalin) who has 50 years of political experience, minister for Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR & CE) P K Sekar Babu said on Friday.
The minister was reacting to state BJP president K Annamalai’s remark that the party would intensify its protest to bring the TN government to a standstill if it did not revoke its decision to keep temples closed on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. “We are giving 10 days for the government to change their mind, else we don’t have an option other than to hit the streets in a massive way. Using the boggy of corona to push their (DMK) false ideology will be opposed by @BJP4TamilNadu tooth & nail!” Annamalai tweeted on Thursday after participating in a demonstration in front of Kalikambal temple in Harbour constituency represented by the HR & CE minister.
The minister said the state government had shut the religious institutions during weekends as per the Union government’s direction. If the BJP leaders wanted to protest, they should protest against the Union government, he added.
