BENGALURU: The long-pending Mysuru Road-Kengeri section is likely to be inaugurated on August 29.
Sources said Union minister for housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri will inaugurate the line in the presence of chief minister Basavaraj Bommai. However, BMRCL officials said the date is yet to be confirmed
The section which was supposed to be ready by December 2018 missed a series of deadlines so far: December 2018, March 2019, November 2019, October 2020, February 2021, April 2021, June 2021, July 2021 and August 2021.
The 7.3km elevated section of south-western extension of Namma Metro’s Purple Line is expected to benefit 75,000 passengers a day.
The elevated Kengeri section will have 7 stations — Nayandahalli, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Jnanabharathi, Pattanagere, Kengeri bus terminal, Kengeri and Challaghatta. However, Challaghatta station, which lies across NICE Road, is likely to be operational only in 2023.
