Bangladesh minister thanks Indira, Indians; lauds Modi for boost in ties | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Bangladesh information and broadcasting minister Hasan Mahmud on Monday inaugurated the Bangabandhu Media Centre at the Press Club of India here.
At the event, organised as part of celebrations of 50 years of India-Bangladesh ties, Mahmud said, “Under the leadership of Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and Indian PM Narendra Modi, our bilateral relationship has reached new heights. This media centre will help strengthen cultural ties and people-to-people contact between the two countries.”
Expressing his “heartfelt regards”, Mahmud said it would not have been be possible to liberate Bangladesh in nine months without the help of India. “Without the help of Indira Gandhi (then Prime Minister) and without the help of the Indian people who accommodated 10 million distressed refugees… the liberation would not have been possible,” he said.
Mahmud also said this initiative will be followed up by setting up of other such centres of exchange across India.
