ayushman: Paramilitary force personnel, kin get Ayushman cover | India News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: In a significant measure aimed at extending nationwide health cover to all central paramilitary personnel and their dependents, home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched the ‘Ayushman CAPF’ scheme at the national level by handing over ‘Ayushman CAPF health card’ to a commando of the National Security Guard. The home ministry intends to complete the distribution of 35 lakh such health cards by December.
The Ayushman CAPF scheme which stands to benefit personnel of seven CAPFs, namely Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, NSG and Sashastra Seema Bal as well as their dependent family members, will enable the beneficiaries to avail cashless in-patient and out-patient healthcare facilities at all hospitals empanelled under Ayushmaan Bharat PM-JAY, besides CGHS.
On Tuesday, on the auspicious occasion of ‘Dhanyantri Pooja’ celebrated in honour of ‘God of Medicine’, Shah handed over Ayushman CAPF scheme health cards to three NSG commandos and remaining cards to NSG DG M A Ganapathy for further distribution to NSG personnel.
With this, the process of distribution of health cards has begun and it will cover all CAPFs. The number of cards distributed will be displayed on the website of ministry of home affairs (MHA) on a daily basis.
Shah had on January 23 this year launched the pilot for ‘Ayushman CAPF’ Scheme in Assam. The scheme is a joint initiative of MHA, ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) and National Health Authority (NHA).
An MHA release said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always given paramount importance to interests of the security forces and taken many steps for their welfare. Shah said the CAPFs should take care of security of the country without any worries as Modi government will take care of their families.
