MUMBAI: Nearly 70,000 Asha workers in Maharashtra on Wednesday called off their week-long strike after health minister Rajesh Tope promised a hike of Rs 1,000 in their salary and Rs 500 as Covid allowance.

Mumbai: Asha workers may get more money
Asha workers have been the foot soldiers of all health schemes, especially during Covid-19.
They have been protesting against their merged salary and lack of adequate amenities.

They also said that many Asha workers who have died due to Covid are yet to receive compensation as well.
