Anand Neelakantan to co-write ‘Karna’ with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra – Times of India

Bestselling Indian mytho-fiction writer Anand Neelakantan recently shared that he is working on a new mythological drama film ‘Karna’. The author is co-writing the story and screenplay with filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

‘Karna’ will feature Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor in the lead role. Karna, the son of Lord Surya and Kunti, was one of the major characters in the Hindu epic ‘Mahabharata’. Though he was a half-brother of the Pandavas, he fought the Great War in support of the Kauravas.

It is being said that Mehra, who will also be directing the movie, is planning to give a contemporary twist to the mythological drama. The movie is expected to be shot in early 2022 and released in 2023.

Meanwhile, both Anand Neelakantan and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s books are releasing this month! While Neelakantan’s new book is ‘Valmiki’s Women’ which tells the stories of five unforgettable women from the ‘Ramayana’, Mehra’s memoir titled ‘The Stranger In The Mirror’ is also releasing in July 2021.
