Active Covid-19 cases drop below 900 in Puducherry | Puducherry News – Times of India

PUDUCHERRY: The number of active Covid-19 cases dropped below 900 in the Union territory of Puducherry on Tuesday after a span of more than four months.
The territory reported 73 fresh cases even as 132 patients recovered in the last 24 hours ending at 10am on Tuesday bringing down the active cases to 885. Of them, 717 are under home isolation and treatment.
Puducherry headquarters reported the maximum fresh cases with 50 followed by Karaikal (11), Yanam (8) and Mahe (4). Puducherry headquarters has the maximum active cases with 653 followed by Karaikal (127), Mahe (74) and Yanam (31).
The territory did not report a death on Tuesday for the second consecutive day. The death toll stood at 1,795. Puducherry headquarters has the maximum fatalities with 1,422 followed by Karaikal (230), Yanam (105) and Mahe (38). The infection’s fatality rate stood at 1.5%.
The territory has so far reported 1.21 lakh cases of which 1.18 lakh patients recovered registering a recovery rate of 97.8%. The positivity rate of the samples (5,664) tested on Tuesday stood at 1.3%.
Healthcare authorities have so far tested 15.13 lakh swab samples of which 12.94 lakh samples returned negative. They have so far administered 7.14 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine, including the second dose.
